However, the cheering squads tend to counteract the good will created by the sociability committee by their failure to cheer for the visitors. No ball game, not even one with Cedar, should begin without a cheer for the opponents from the pep squads. It may be nothing more than spelling out The Hello, Cedar. Were glad youre here. Come on, gang, lets give them a cheer, and 15 rahs for Cedar. It is just good sportsmanship. How about it, students ? Your sportsmanship is showing. KAREEN BROWN Bouquets to Girl Drivers Guest Editorial from the Salt Lake Tribune. Gags about women drivers are legend. Now women, particularly young women, have an opporunity to make the male superior quipslers laugh out of the other sides of their mouths. A leading automobile insurance company reports that its studies show that women under 25 years old are better drivers than men of the same age. And the firm supports its convictions with a 23 to 35 per cent cut in insurance rates in New York state, with a 40 Icr cent cut m California, and with Tri-Sta- te & 36 Office Music Supply East Tabernacle St. St. George, Utah Your school and music supply center. What about the young fellows9 There is still an extra premium on the car they drive. This is a challenge to them and to their fathers who pay the insurance bill. Keep up the good record, girls, and maybe you can help cut down the appalling traffic toll even more by protesting when a brother or a boy friend starts showing off in a in car. Why do we cheer when a foul is called against the visitor and boo the official for calling the fouls of our placers? or 1955 Gillespie, and Sylvia Cox. The big night is Thursday, Feb Your Sportsmanship Is Showing Do you realize that booing is one of the worst kinds of bad sportsmanship and that those who boo tear down the reputation, of the school much faster than it can be rebuilt by all the victories a team can chalk up in a season. To students who come to Dixie from schools where booing was not tolerated, its allowance and widespread practice at games is immediately nauseating. In the high school I attended, spectators were asked to leave for booing at games. Why must it be, that in the tense moments when the score is nearly even or when we are in the deficit, when a Dixie player steps up to the foul line it is so quite you can hear the next person's breathing, but when it is the visiting players turn, he must shoot amid the boos of an unfriendly crowd? Should they not receive the same courtesy we give our home team? 1, ; Slia ( February Members of Miss Corbetts modern dance class will present five numbers in tomorrow Fine Arts festival concert nights which features dancing and vocal and music.
