Show The Dixie Owl, St. Oeorge, Utah 19 speech, kept him calm for he knows the time for work and the time for play. The northern team won the admiration of the audience for they were indeed clever at the warfare in which they were engaged. Throughout the fight the spectators were disappointed because the gentlemen did not use the well shaped shell that lay at their disposal. At times it seemed that the use of this shell would end in our victory, but even then our team seemed to forget that it was theirs. In the rebuttal speech of Crawford many thought that he could no longer refrain from using this well shaped, well made shell, but he knew that the time for the shell was coming. As Gates started his rebuttal it looked as though the most precious part of the ammunition were going to be wasted but all of a sudden he grabbed it, swung it around his head but once and with all might and fury, hurled it into the opposite lines. It was aimed exactly and the result was inevitable. It seemed a pity to take such a prize from such lasses but Gates and Crawford knew what we expected, and amid cheers they brought the scalp back to their fellow students.
