Show DIXIE OWL, ST. GEORGE, UTAH 6 THE MAIN BUILDING Important Information A glance at the faculty for 1917-1- 8 will insure students who attend the Dixie Normal College that the work will be given by people who hold master degrees, or by teachers whose work has already been accepted throughout the State. The strong line-u- p of teachers in the Normal makes it possible for stuTraining Department dents to receive the best preparation for teaching in our district schools. The school gives a Normal certificate for which is issued a county certificate, without examination, by the State Board of Education. This year all our normal graduates have received good positions in the different counties throughout the State. The department of agriculture will be one ot the strongest in the school. With the three master degreed men and Mr. Gourley, who is now having the practical experience of organizing the farmers of the county, students may be assured of any work they desire to take along agricultural lines. Mr. Boyle, who is head of the department, took his A- B. from the Cornell University and his M. A. from Berkley. During the last year he has been engaged by the University of California, or - ganizing the farmers in the rural districts about Berkley. He is a man who has had a great deal of experience along the line of farm management and plant breeding. Mr. Hall, who took his M. A. from University of Washington, will give work in plant physiology, weeds of Dixie and nature work. A review of the faculty will show that all other departments are equally strong. High School students should deem it a great privilege to receive their work under such splendid teachers. The Dixie Normal College is making a rapid growth. With our new building entirely completed by fall we will have ample room for five hundred students. The work given in college covers a great variety of subjects. All the school activities, such as athletics, debating and oratory will be encouraged in a way that many students will have opportunity to participate. As has been the case this year several fine trips to other schools and States will be scheduled for our debaters. The strong faculty, the mild balmy climate, perfect social condition, and ideal environment make schooling in the Dixie a pleasure as well as a profit. |
