And here are excerpts from newspaper articles about his seminar: Dusan Mrak denies that he has been fooping into the closets and bureau drawers of American women. But if he hasnt, how could he possibly know what he knows? Scottsdale, Ariz., Daily Progress. Over 80 percent of the standard size patterns must be altered to a significant degree to assure proper fit, while less than 20 percent of the home seamstresses are qualified to perform such alteration. . .Hap- - BU. The American Fashion Institute of New York is now helping you to fit and dress with just the style you want, and with the additional pleasure of having done it yourself." San Antonio, Tex., Light. Most women who sew dream of finding a pattern that will fit their figure perfectly without alterations, said Dusan Mrak. . .Mrak said that with a little practice, more than 750 different styles can be made from the basic pattern. Tacoma, Wash., News-Tribun- e. Mrak Makes Sewing Easy I am so busy adjusting my patterns that I can hardly find time to sew, complains a typical sewing woman. No wonder, is the reply from Dusan Mrak, spokesman for the American Fashion Institute of New York. If the ready-to-weindustry used obsolete methods, such as a home seamstress is expected to use, : there would simply be no industry.; Mrak maintains that it looks as if most of the giants in the home-sew- ing industry try hard to make sew- ing efforts as difficult as possible. It starts with the pattern; when she ! opens the envelope, she finds 12 to 18 All in to be have parts it proportionately adjusted. She tries for four to six hours, and ends up with a mess, leaving less and less time for actual sewing, while she should be racing along, putting the garment together in a few hours. Most instructions on pattern adjustments and fitting are obsolete, are over 60 years old and quite misleading. Most women buy cheap fabrics with the thought in mind, If it doesnt come out right, it wont cost too much. In the meantime, half of the patterns she buys are never even used. Fifty percent of homemade garments are not fit to be seen in public. Speaking from experience, Mrak, as the head of A.F.I., spent a number of years with the Institute, developing completely new techniques, designed exclusively to solve the most critical area of sewing that of pattern fitting. It makes no sense that modern and easy techniques should not be made available right now. Make her easy, ! sewing what it should be ; productive and creative. Mrak has traveled much of the, world and acquired knowledge from -professionals in the sewing and fash-io- n field, thus perhaps compiling one of the most comprehensive semi--- .. nars ever presented in this country. Women who attend find the pre-- f ' sentation fascinating and easy to- follow. AFIs simplified pattern-- ' making and fashion designing meth- od eliminates the need of ever using; standard size patterns again. The demonstrations include some- - . of the most amazing short cuts an , easy-setechniques available. For instance, completing an indi. vidually fitted basic pattern in 15r minutes. Such pattern makes up tori' your personal sloper, copies of. 1 which can be used to create any; 1 alii number of different designs custom-fitteof course, just as if, made by a professional. ;; The Institute shows how any nov-- ice or advanced seamstress can make a pattern copy in less than 15 '' minutes, then sew the same dress at ; the cost of $20 in her exact individual body shape, regardless of what ' that may be. Mrak says, We do still have skeptics who challenge our claims and come and pay the admission fee just to see if it is true. Then we have them climbing all over the lecturer at the end of the seminar, trying to learn first hand the secrets of the trade. We know too well how eager women are to learn short cuts and easy ways in sewing. Our programs provide just that. AFIs pattern-makin- g techniques enable anyone to make exactly fit-- , ted patterns, and it is guaranteed. They have found the answer to fit the myriad of shapes and sizes people come in. The method is absolutely unique and so simple that it can be mastered by and up. ar w r zai'&.-t&-i ww&ssyav'' 5 w&ssi NEW METHODS NEVER SEEN BEFORE ) -- Perhaps, but my easy methods will show you how to IT IN Y SEE A d, PATTERN MADE FOR A MEMBER CUSTOM-FITTE- OF THE AUDIENCE SEW ALL YOUR CLOTHES WITH PROFESSIONAL RESULTS TO HUNDREDS OF DESIGNS TRANSFER DARTS-K- EY CUT YOUR SEWING TIME IN HALF!
