Finlen, 81, in Fort Lauderdale Monday at 10 a.m. Mr. Finlen, widely known in West- ern mining, industrial and banking circles, died suddenly of heart failure April 3 at his home in Fort Lauderdale, where he had made his winter residence for 27 years. Mr. Finlen was born in Butte, Mont., in 1903, the son of James Finlen and Mary Ivers Finlen. His undergraduate degree was received from the University of San Francisco; his LLB was from Georgetown University. He was Western general counsel for Anaconda Mining Company and associate counsel for Montana Power for he principal his construction, banking, mining and hotel companies. Prominent in the Catholic laity, he received many honors including membership in the Knights of Malta. His first wife, Ruth Ray Finlen, and a daughter, Donna Finlen Heines, preceded him in death. Mr. Finlen is survived by 1 is wife, Mary Byrnes Finlen, Fort Lauderdale; a daughter, Mrs. Michael C. OBrien, Garden City, N.J.; two sons, James T. Jr Kansas City, Kan.; and William M. Special to The Tribune LawMILFORD, Beaver County men chased down a suspected drug smugglers airplane in Milford late Friday and confiscated almost 32 million worth of marijuana, according to a statement from the Beaver County Sheriff's Office. Three people in the plane were booked into the Beaver County Jail. Formal charges are pending. U.S. Customs agents in another aircraft pursued the airplane to the Milford airport. The federal agents notified Ihe Beaver County Sheriff's Department of the incoming suspects about 9 p.m., according to sheriff's dispatcher Jerry DeWeese. When the airplane landed, sheriffs deputies and Utah State Drug and Alcohol agents were waiting for the suspects. The lawmen discovered a large amount of marijuana," with an estimated street value of just under $2 million, according to the statement. An exact amount was unavailable. Details of the drug smuggling operation were also unavailable late Saturday.
