The Great Salt Lake Council of Boy Scouts of America recently presented Stiver Beaver Awards to 46 men and women who demonstrated exceptional service to youth, community and scouting. The award is the highest honor a volunteer may receive from a Boy Scout council. It is presented, upon approval of the National Court of Honor, for noteworthy service of exceptional character to youth by registered Scouters. Those Awards receiving Silver Gordon B. Richards, Woods Cross; Bill Robin- d, Beaver include-Gideo- Achter, Salt Lake; Andy Editorial Davis Should Support g Plant Trash-Burnin- Rather than continuing to bicker about the burn plant in Layton, elected officials in Davis County ought to be rallying behind the project to make sure it works. There are risks associated with the $54.7 million project, but there will also be abundant benefits if g the plant achieves its full potential. After four years of sometimes trash-burnin- acrimonious debate, bonds to finance the plant have been sold and construction is under way. The time for arguing is over. There's reason to be anxious about this project. It's using a new technology that may, or may not, work as well as manufacturers claim. There have been questions about the costs and potential benefits of the project and there's uncertainty about how much garbage will actually be run through the plant.
