"Ihoto Utah," is back again in 1986 by popular demand, with more spare to the growing interest in photography There w ill be exhibits this year to interest everyone Iroin those who just take photos on speeial orca sions to the experienced shutteroug The latest in newr cameras and equipment will also be shown New this year will be special displays from leading manufacturers, as well as dealers, professional photographers, camera collectors, equipment and photo repair technicians Lectures from the area's leading authorities in photography range from a slide show ' Photographic Basics" for the amateur to such subjects as "Copying and Preserving Old Photographs" and "Professional Environmental Portraiture" for the more advanced photographers John Forester Camera Kepair that will provide Festival visitors free check-uof their cameras There will be displays of the new and best in cameras and equipment by leading manufacturers. Photographic retailers will display new cameras, telescopes, videos, camera accessories, eibachrome. printing process, lighting equipment, camera bags and much more. New this year are educational displays from Utah State University. Weber State College, University of Utah and Brigham Young University There will be demonstrations on carbon printing and alternative photo processes and other interesting items Photo Utah 86 contest will have some very valuable prizes for win tion and Sports Photography." Owner of Hight-ec- h Lab., a commercial custom lab, Bagley is an expert in techniques of custom production. 5 p.m. Jerry Fagerland. "Landscape Photography." He teaches and is a lab technician at the Salt Lake Art Center. 6 p.m. Don Thorpe, "Available Light Photography. He has been a professional photographer for 15 and audioyears and a multi-imag- e visual producer for nine years. He has a book Available Light Photography published by Watson-Guptiof New York, and has illustrated four photo essay type books. 7 p.m. Paul Rose. Contrasting Television and Film, Which Is Better? A telecommunication and lab supervisor at the University of Utah, he has received a B.A. from BYU in broadcast production. He owns and operates his own video production Photographic seminars will be held in the southeast corner of the hall. The scheduled is as follows Thursday, Feb. 27: Kent Miles, Thinking Photographically. Looking at prospective pictures with concepts of graphic design and composition in mind. He is a graduate in photography from the University of Utah and Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles. He has been involved in photography for 20 years. He taught classes in color' printing and is technical consultant for Colortronic. 2 p.m. Steve Tregeagle, "American Society of Magazine Photographers and its guide to professional business practices in photography. He is president of Utah Mountain West A.S.M.P. and has been a commercial photographer for 12 years. He has photographed everything autos to soup. from 3 p.m. Steve Barrus, Environmental Portraiture in Black and White." He attended BYU where he majored in photography. During his senior year he worked for the BYU photo archives. He graduated from BYU in 1984 magna cum laude, and worked for a portrait studio in Las Vegas before opening his own studio d in Sandy. 4 Kurt Fishback, Environ p.m. mental Portraiture of Famous Artists A professor of photography at Weber State College, he is noted nationwide both as a photographer and an educator. His portraitures have included many famous artists, including photographer Ansel Adams. He has a MFA from the University of California at Davis, and has exhibited throughout the nation. 5 p.m. Wally Barrus, "Making the Fine Black and White Print." An associate professor photography and design at BYU, he has a MFA in photography from Utah State University. A photographer for more than 30 years, he has exhibited in numerous shows throughout the country. 6 p.m. Michael Herbert, Alternative Photo Processes." An assistant professor at Weber State College, he received a MFA in photography and print making, and is an expert in color photography. He has exhibited throughout the nation. 7 p.m. Barbara Richards, Photographic Seeing. One of Utah's premier photographers, she has had photos appear in The Salt Lake Tribune, Utah Holiday magazine, and in many photo exhibits. An adjunct assistant professor in the Graduate School of Architecture at the University of Utah, she recently completed a Scandinavian portfolio. John Telford, Cibach-rom- e Photography and Landscape. Head of photography at the Univer 8 p.m. MFA from Arizona State University and has won numerous nationwide exhibits and awards sity of Utah Media Center where he teaches, he is probably the top expert in Utah in eibachrome. Jeff Smith is photographic manufacturers representative for Minolta.
