With its holidays and events rich with romance and legends, it is a welcome break from the doldrums. Along with Valentine's Day and Presidents' Day, National Cherry Month is celebrated in February, and recipes featuring cherries are traditionally served on the two holidays. Few foods have the long and mythical history surrounding cherries. Historians believe that they were first grown in the gardens of the emperors in ancient China, and that the seeds were carried to Europe by migrating ends surrounding George Washingtons childhood. In 1912, the governor of Tokyo presented 3,000 ornamental cherry trees to be planted in Washington and they have delighted millions of springtime visitors throughout the years. mid-wint- Delicious desserts featuring cherries and sweetened condensed milk can commemorate February holidays deliciously. Sweetheart Cherry Nut Fudge can be made with either white confectioners' coating or semi-swechocolate combined with maraschino or candied cherries. When shaped like a heart, this creamy, smooth fudge is a special gift. Nothing beats a winter chill like a dessert served warm from the oven. Cherry Dumplin Cake is a quick, warm ending to a family dinner. Chocolate-covere- d cherries are a popular candy item. Choco-Cherr- y Ice Cream Loaf combines these two favorite flavors in an easy, dessert. Enjoy the romance and fun of February holidays with special cherry desserts. During the 17th century, cherries were the most popular fruit in Europe and often inspired painters and poets. At the same time, Valentines Day was one of the most popular holidays, especially in England where great balls and dinners were held to celebrate love and romance. Many of the gifts exchanged featured cherries in art and verses. Cherries were brought to America by early settlers and, of course, played a prominent role in the leg no-co- Visit a nudist colony Dear Auu Landers: In a recent column you told a woman who had a very strong inclination to display her beautiful body to the delivery boy, the postman, and in fact, any male who showed up at the door, that she was out of the reach of the law, so long as she didnt seduce a minor. I would like you to know that she would be in big trouble if she lived in Florida. I am enclosing evidence (based on a case that wa- handled by our firm). The decision was that the defendant, a male who answered the door wearing nothing but a smile and encountered a girl selling Girl Scout cookies 'ommitted a lewd and lascivious act even though nothing out of the way was said or done. Although each case is judged on its own merits, it is clear that if Ms. Body Beautiful exposes herself to the delivery boy and he is a minor, she also exposes herself to criminal prosecution. I respectfully suggest that if Ms. B.B. is unable to overcome her compulsion to display her naked body she consider visiting a nudist colony. R.P.G., Chief Assistant, Public Defender, Highlands County, Fla. 22. He was 42 and married. Today I am 64. He is 84. His poor sick wife is still with him. As recently as last night he repeated that familiar line: Please wait for me, darling, we will have a life together one of these days. Just be patient. Just how much longer does he think he will live? The man is full of arthritis and has a devil of a time getting out of a chair. He repeats himself constantly and can never remember what he did with his eyeglasses. I must have been nuts to allow him to keep me on the string this long. Somehow, the years just flew by and before I knew it he was an old man and I was no spring chicken. Several months ago when I told him what a fool I had been, he said, If you want to meet someone else go ahead, but you will never find anyone who loves you more than I do. Please tell me, Ann, who am I going to meet at age 64, after giving this man 42 years of my life? I wouldn't know how to act around another man. Id give anything if I could turn the clock back to when I was 22. 1 would have told him to call me up when his 0 divorce was final.
