Two summers ago I met an intelligent fun beautiful and “great to be around” girl I’m not exaggerating when I say almost every moment with her is the ultimate high We have been seeing each other ever since Our families have become friendly “Rita” lives in Connecticut with her parents and is taking undergraduate courses We manage to see each other on the average of two weekends a month and we never fail to have a terrific time You are probably wondering “What’s the problem?” Well Rita is 16 although one would guess she is in her 20s She was graduated from high school at 14 I can’t help but wonder if I’m doing the right thing by continuing to see her I have had many relationships with girls during high school but none as emotionally and intellectually satisfying as this one I confess I am crazy in love with Rita It drives me nuts Jhat I am constantly justifying this relationship to my friends Please Ann help me unscramble this problem Is it wrong for me to be Dear Ann Landers: If this letter keeps just one person from taking his life it will have been worth the pain I am suffering as I write it May I tell you what is left after a suicide escapes from his earthly problems? I speak from a shattering experience My dear mother took her life two months ago (I can hardly bear to write the words) seeing a girl so much younger? (In some states it may even be illegal) I find it incredibly ironic that what may be the most fulfilling relationship in my life is causing me so much anxiety I’ll sign this — Harvard Law Student Dear Law Student: Your letter if it came from Yale not Harvard The fishy part: “Rita is taking undergraduate courses” If this brainstorm graduated from high school at 14 she is a very bright young lady and should be in her junior year at Vassar or Radcliffe by now So what is she doing taking undergraduate courses in Connecticut?
