This is very convenient but it still does not solve the problem if you want to move from one side of the room to another while using the phone. How do you increase the range? The typical new phone with a modular connection has a phone-to-jac- k line length of about eight feet. If a longer line is advantageous you need only replace the existing line by merely pressing the lever of the modular plug and pulling it out. Another way to increase your range is to install a longer coiled handset cord. Like the line cord, from the phone to the wall outlet, the newer handset cords have modular plugs which fit into a jack, on the handset and phone base; these are not interchangeable. Standard prewired hand replacement cords are available in lengths up to 25 feet. Still another way to provide greater flexibility is to make your own line cord to any desired length. Or you can use a reel of the type shown. And if any of these options do not pro- duce the flexibility desired, your last choice is a cordless phone!
