Show Everything in Readiness for Red Cross Day The fine and fat 11-months old steer is in process of roasting to a king's taste, 800 loaves of bread are on the ground ready to give the multitude all the sandwiches of choice barbecued roast beef they can consume, other victuals will be on hand in abundance, and ice cream and other light refreshments refresh-ments are in preparation for the largest larg-est gathering of people ever known in Emery county, if not in Eastern Utah. 'For Emery County Red Cross day which was first discussed less than two weeks ago comes off today (Saturday) (Sat-urday) as an event to go down in his tory as a noble response to the cry of humanity's spokesman the American Red Cross. A thousand dollars clear was the goal originally set by the committee designated by the county chapter to supervise the "big time" but this a-mount a-mount has now been lost sight of and it would not be surprising to those ; who are in touch with the mighty re- j sponses being made by every com- : munity in the county if double this amount was realized. The idea of soliciting livestock, poultry, etc., to be raffled and auctioned off, starting out as a very small tiling, has assumed gi- gantlc proportions and hundreds of dollars' worth of stuff is now on the ground. Several people passing through town during the last week are stopping or returning for the "big time" and, before be-fore this impression reaches our readers' read-ers' eyes, several hundred people from outside as well us Inside the county will be enjoying either the excellent program which has been arranged or the barbecued-beef dinner. The dance at night with the Black Hawk orchestra will also be a big card |
