Show HUNTINGTON ' Dr. F. J. Pack, geologist of the state university, together with Prof. Watson, Wat-son, teacher at the A. C, have been making a prospecting tour of our San Rafael oil district. Ex-bishop Nielson Niel-son accompanied them. They have, many good words for what they saw and express themselves as believing some early developments will be mads of some of the prospects. They seern to be well-posted in their line. Our population is still increasing. Five babies were blessed last Sunday. The sick of the ward is still improving. improv-ing. However, Clint Sherman, a son of O. L. Sherman, is quite bad, wrestling wrest-ling with a case of pneumonia. He is a young man of about 18 years and we hope to see him wear it out. On Tuesday morning, our stamp a-gents a-gents made a raid on the populace, talking up the sale of Thrift stamps and War-Saving certificates. They seem to be in earnest, calculating to make a thorough canvass. Their first experience was to make a cash loan to purchase a supply of stamps to sell. Uncle Sam doesn't trust. Tuesday night our dramatic amateurs ama-teurs made an excellent presentation on the boards of "The Busy Liar. The cast was good and each one acquitted himself of his role with credit. Nearly 50 dollars was taken in at the door. After expenses are paid the balance will go to the Sunday school to help out the new year's expenses. Our conjoint meeting on Sunday eve, was interesting. A nice program was given and Elder Peter E. Johnson de-detailed de-detailed some of the conditions existing exist-ing over in Europe. The past two weeks have been busy ones at the tithing office. The bishop and force have been on special duty. Elder A. E. Wall was over helping to put on the finishing touch to the work on Tuesday last. All seems to be moving mov-ing satisfactorily. On Monday at high noon, while the old town board members were in session ses-sion closing up their annual busies?, the members of the new board called in and received the authority to officiate offici-ate for the coming two years. Old President Meeks is now new President Meeks, with all new members to carry car-ry the town load. We wish them success suc-cess and hope they can be of one heart and one mind for the town's welfare and prosperity. |
