Show THAW TAKES ALL BLAME. Admits Bribing Men Who Assisted in His Escape from Asylum. New York. The story of his escape from Matteawan, of the plot leading thereto and the subsequent flight into Canada, was told by Harry Kendall Thaw on Thursday before Justice Alfred Al-fred Page in the criminal branch of the supreme court. He denied that there was a conspiracy. He assumed ill credit for the plan and the successful success-ful engineering thereof. He admitted paying Richard Butler But-ler "Big Dick" as much as $6,000, out of which sum-Butler was to reward re-ward the others and give Richard, alias "Educated," Roger Thompsen, the chauffeur, a "present'' of $1,000 in addition to the $10 or $15 daily wage agreed upon in Thompsen's case. |
