In some parts the I the terrible wind storm was accompanied j by hail and rain. 1 he wind-stricken i sections have not yet been heard from, 1 and it's quite possible that the death i role is considerably underestimated, i The greatest 'damage was done at i Heart, Oklahoma and Whiting, Kansas. Kan-sas. Many buildings were struck bv lightning and burned while ever; building build-ing in both towns were almost completely com-pletely destroyed. The Kansas end of the tornado started near Whiting, and swept in a southeastern south-eastern direction for a distance of fifty miles raising havoc as it went. In Kansas Kan-sas City little damage was done. A few horses were killed by lightning and some buildings were struck. The rain in that section lasted about an hour. |
