Show AIRSHIPS BOMBARD OSTEND. Bombs Do Considerable Damage and Create Panic. London. A Zeppelin airship coming from the direction of Thourout (twelve miles southwest of Bruges. Belgium dropped three bombs on Thursday. ' One of them struck the avenue P d Smet de Nayer bridge, on the outskirts out-skirts of the town, another fell in ther harbor and another on the premises of a wholesale fish dealer in the fish market, partly wrecking the building. The explosion here made a great cavity in the ground and badly damaged dam-aged all surrounding houses, extinguished extin-guished street lamps, destroyed electric elec-tric wires and' created a panic. The Zeppelin returned in the direction of Thielt, twelve miles northeast oi Courtrai. |
