Show HUNTINGTON CANYON TO HAVE A ROAD MT. PLEASANT, Utah, Oct. 10.-! 10.-! The company of engineers surveying a railroad route from Nephi to the coal mines east of Sahpete Valley is now camped at the Whittaker ranch in Thistle Vallgy. The party is composed of fifteen men and the work has progressed pro-gressed so fa. that it is evident that the project is feasible, a th.ee per cent grade being possible. The distance from Nephi to the coal mines in Huntington Canyon is about eighty miles. The route runs tnrough the east mountain, coming into the head of Sanpete Valley through tne Sanpitch River Valley, turning west crosses through the lowest points in the mountain, brosses Hilltop north of Fountain Green and connects with tha San Pedro at Nephi. The gentlemen having the party in charge says the company responsible for the projects owns coal property at Hiawatha, bnt is not able to develop it bebause of the inability of the Denver and Rio Grande to handle its coal. It also own coal land near Huntington, and it is for the purpose of getting a maak-et maak-et for the coal that the road is proposed, securing a caast market. |
