Show PRESIDENT OVESON NOMINATED FOR SENATOR At Price this (Thurday) afternoon the democrats of the fifteenth senatorial ( district, in convention assembled, prepared pre-pared a poultice of healing lotion to soothe the wounds of the Emery county republicans who lost out in their convention con-vention on Wednesday, by nominating Louis P. Oveson of Castledale for the office of state senator. But time will tell which of the two the Emery repub-licans repub-licans love the betterthe honor of office or their party's principles. The convention was a perfect love feast, not one discordant note being sounded during the brief session. The attendance was rather small and there was no evidence of opposing candidates for senatorial honors, so when chairman Levi N. Harmon of Price called the convention con-vention to order and stated the purpose of it, some one presented the name of Louis P. Oveson and he was promptly nominated by acclamation. The foregoing is the Eastern Utah Advocate's account of the democratic senatorial convention at Price last week. President Oveson was not present pres-ent at the meeting and had no idea of being the candidate of his party for the place. When he first heard of the nomination nomi-nation he was inclined to take it as a joke on him. That he is one of the best of the citizenship of Utah on one doubts and with him as the candidate of tha democrats and President G. A. Iverson of Price as the candidate of the republicans repub-licans the fact that we are to be well represented in the state senate is assured. |
