Show CAME WARDENS OF STATE MEET AT SALT LAKE i i District game wardens from all over the state met last week at Salt Lake with. Fred W. Chambers, state fish and j game commissioner, and made reports j concerning outputs of each hatchery, j the results of planting fish in the sti earns and the amount and condition of game. , There were present, besides the com- missioner and his chief deputy, David H. Madsen, "A. H. Moyes of Ogden, ! who is warden of the district; M. B. j Pope of Theodore, warden of the third j district; N. P. Agaard of Fountain j Green, warden of the fourth district; Byron Hanchettof Annabel, warden of j the fifth district; Miah Day of Fillmore warden of tha sixth district; E. N. Jacklin,- superintendent of the Murray hatchery, and John D. Morrow, superintendent super-intendent of the Panguitch hatchery. According to the reports, tee rainbow and native trout have given the best results, although the eastern brook trout have done well in low waters. The fish are increasing at a good rate. Reports on game birds show that they have multiplied during the two and a half years of protection. The single exception is the sagehen., which has been slaughteres to such an extent that it is just a little more than holding its own. The duck, malady has almost disappeared. Deer are on the increase in Southwestern Utah. The gray wolf, mountain lion and even the coyote kill more-deer than hunters do. Antelope and mountain sheep are also increasing in the southwestern part of the state. The proposition to bring a carload of elk into Utah was discussed. The government has promised to furnish them from Idaho and Wyoming. These will be liberated in various parts of Ucah i hey will not remain where sheep graze.
