Show CLEVELAND Last Sunday evening the annual de-J bate of the public school vas given, i This was the last of a series which has ', been given during the year and the best; debaters of the school were chosen to j handle it. The subject was "Resolved' that prohibition is perferable to local I option as the means of controling the I liquor traffic in the state of Utah." Pearl Sno.v and Ruth Whimpy support- I ing the affirmative and Peter Pherson-t and Edna Lamph the negative. L. Peter Larsen, Win T. Lamph and Grace Cox were the judges. The affirmative were declared the winners. Pearl Snow was awarded the gold me.l il as taking first place and Peter Pherson the silver medal for second place. The medals were given by Principal Erickson. Both sides did well and brought out some very good points. The parents class of the Sunday School gave a public dinner to the town Friday. Material is beginning to arrive for our new school house. Groa said it wasn't she who had that long telephone conversation with a Sunnyside Sun-nyside young man the other Sunday, but she blushed when she said it. |
