Nothing surpasses it when used lor bold effects in our modern gardens. Plant it on a dry hillside where you have difficulty in growing other plants. Use it in a row along a stole wall, a fence or as an accent planting. Potted in redwood planters or - huge pots, - the Yucca " makes an attractive addition to the patio. Natives of the arid sections of the United States and Mexico, the Yuccas require very little care. They prefer d sandy loam and a sunny location. Propagation is from rhizomes, or stem cuttings and from seed. Raising from a dump of sword-likleaves, the stalks of flowers remind you of huge well-draine- e cup-shape- d blooms. TWO YEARS ago, I ordered some Japanese iris and planted them along a stream in my garden. This year, for the first time, I have a gorgeous bloom. They contrast nicely with the huge blooms of Japanese iris. A word of caution in planting flowers which require special care In our area. They are lovely and always a conversation piece when people visit your garden, but they take lots of time and some special knowledge to have them thrive.
