Show The iHaeser Memorial. On May 31st, the Maeser Memorial building, the new college structure of the Brigham Young Universi.y was j dedicated. The furniture was placed in position under the personal supervision super-vision of the"sleepless" T. N. Taylor, who has the matter of furnishing the building in charge. Mr. Taylor made a special trip to the East, and had the furniture manufactured in accordance with special and original designs. It is plain in outline, and gives the impression impress-ion of solidity and massiveness. In fact wmen Mr. Taylor submitted his designs, they were objected to by the manufacturers manufac-turers on the grounds that the lines were entirely too severe; but tbe auburn haired furniture man has a way of insisting in-sisting on what he wants, and he usually usu-ally gets his way. He did so in thiscasj and the results justify his insistence. The f.rniture is of white oak, quarter sawi.d, dull nubbed finish. The chairs have comfortable saddle seats and rest- ful backs. The legs are brass capped, making them very durable, j For the class rooms revolving chairs ' are provided; the others are non-revolving. In the ladies' rest room are a cooj-f"i cooj-f"i table couch and a Spanish leather i jcker. The furniture throughout, table, books c.ise, desks, and chairs are in harmony with the splendid building, the whole giving the impression of the substanti- I al, and still the beautifui in its simpli- ! city. ; i |
