Show School SOUTHERN UTAH NEWS WEDNESDAY MAY 12. 1999 KHS Drama i in State takes 1st in Region-3r- d KHS Dramas One Act Play, Blind of Heart, placed 3rd in the State 1A2A competition at A Beaver. The Utah High School V.l Activities Association awarded Dwayne Rennels for his characterization as Father (which he clutched, near to his heart, the entire way home) and an honorI able mention to Chris Branson. I Several honorable mentions X went to KHS Drama as well; A Special Award for our Ensemble, a Special Award for our Cos&. Preservation Month May-Histotumes (thank you to Debbie Dallin winners Council Art Carie Contest Jason Judd!), and a Special Award for Stewart, Williquette, Heritage Horton are presented the authenticity of our set. We Heaton, Mandy Clayson, Amber Heaton and Ksylie certificates from Heritage Council members Joan Kirby (I) and Rosalie were very pleased with these One of our judges was Professor Metton, Dean of the Theatre Department at SUU. Professor Metton asked our cast How many of you want to be actors? He said, Dont lose that dream, you are a fine group of so many boys young actors-an- d in this bunch! Its hard to find a lot of boys your age that want to perform, I commend you and your coaches for the work you put into this piece. Before we could get this article to the paper, each member received a personal letter in the mail from Professor Metton, again congratulating them on their performance. What a won- derful surprise. Its fun. its free and its at the Kanab Elementary School, 11 West 100 North, on May 15, 1999, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The bike rodeo for kids from kindergarten through sixth grade is sponsored by State Farm Insurance. It includes an obstacle course and instruction about how to safely ride a bike. A bicycle safety inspection is provided, and children who complete the course earn a laminated bike license certificate which includes their photo. Children will need a bike to participate. Helmets are recommended, but loaners will be available. We were also excited for Andrea Crosby, who went to Medal Rounds amid some very stiff competition. Andrea is KHS Sterling Scholar in Drama and our Drama Club President. All Kanab High School Freshman and their parents are invited to attend. This event will take place in the KHS cafeteria at 7 :00 p.m. There will be a very special guest speaker.
