Show The Pilgrims, Pocahontas and John Smith all join Kanab High School in expressing their pride in the November Students of the Month. DesaraeBuntingand Thomas Avant didnt come over on the Mayflower, but if they had, they would have captained the ship. Desarae is a very busy young lady, but never in too big a rush to be friendly with everyone she encounters. Her frantic schedule includes cross country, volleyball and basketball, while maintaining a 3.966 g.p.a. Her high marks earned Desarae Academic honors. She attended Girls State and last summer traveled to Japan for a rich cultural experience. This outstanding daughter of Bruce and Leah Bunting plans to attend college and major in landscape architecture. Thomas Avant is a winner in everything that he does. This four-yea- r player in football and basketball also was named to Academic team. He the currently shares the top academic position in his class with a 3.988 g.p.a. which means that he constantly appears at the top of the Honor Roll lists. He is a member of the Vocational Industrial Club of America, and is a national and two-tim- e state winner in Principles of Technology. Tom serves as Seminary Council president, and ifhe finds any free time, he likes to hike, participate in many sports, and work at computer draftingjobs an area where he excels. Colleges are lining up to offer scholarships to this talented son of Mike and Carla Avant. Susan Palmer VHS special All-Sta- te By Stacey Heaton Valley has somethingnew! This Come to the Christmas Festival These kids want you to come to the Christmas Festival at Kanab High School on December 2. Susan is the daughter of Orval and Gerta Palmer of Alton. She is a student and athlete. She is an honor student, student body secretary, FF A vice president, volleyball and basket ball player, and member of the VHS orchestra. Susan shows her determination all the time. She consistently goes after what she wants. She is also a great citizen in our community, and an asset to Valley High. After graduation, she plans to go to college and become a teacher. Mr. Sheilds is an excellent father, teacher, scholar and friend. He grew up in Delta, Utah, where he met his wife Kelly, who supports him in all the activities he is involved in.
