The current and past commissions have been consistent in denying any unauthorized use since they take the position this is a RS2477 right of way, and the county is within its rights to do road work consistent with the safety of the traveling public. Cox showed that the document calls for unspecified payment work performed through for the BLM. by the county We arent going to pay it, said Commissioner Joe Judd. No, we are not going to pay this, agreed Carroll, and then made a joke that they had Ken Rait draw it up, referring to the spokesman for SUWA, the environmental coalition that is not dearly loved in our county. Carroll said that he and Cox will meet with the BLM next week, provided they have finished their enforced holiday. in-ki- nd then raised the matter of payment to JR Frost Pavement Maintenance, regarding his five hundred dollar bill erroneously reported as paid in the last acCox count of Commission happenings. Frost made it perfectly clear that the sweeping was extra work not specified in the contract drawn by Evan Callister of Rosenberg Engineers and thus his bill must be paid. The Commission thanked them for their interest and will consider them if the need arises. Two bids were received for engineering proposals on two and a half miles of the North Fork Foad, the first from Rosenberg, the second from Platt & Platt . The Commission took these bids under advisement. Kane County Sheriff Lamont Smith asked the commission to approve the probationary period for Mark Cole Brown. The sheriff noted that his work was top notch. The commission was pleased to accept Deputy Brown e as a employee. Smith showed the commission a letter he received from Kane County Hospital administrator Mike Sinclair telling him to stop dispatching the Kane County Ambulance into Arizona, excepting the City of Fredonia and Six Mile Village on the Paiute reservation. Sinclair cited a dry run to Jacobs Lake a few days before as the reason. Sheriff Smith expressed concern with this order since Dispatch is part of the department he was elected to head. The commission all had prior knowledge of the letter, and that the problem has existed for several years. The commissions consensus was that nobody wants a person to die because of lack of an ambulance, the EMTs are volunteers and should have input into this matter, and perhaps Sinclairs letter will get the attention of the State of Arizona and Coconino County. In the final analysis, its up to Sheriff Smith whether an ambulance gets dispatched.
