Show Community SOUTHERN UTAH NEWS WEDNESDAY MAY 17, 1995 9 Thanks! Thanks! Thanks! By Kay Willardson Everyone in the City ofKanab should be wearing a big smile on their faces and a feeling of success in their hearts. As Richard Negus reported in last weeks paper, the community bazaar did turn out well. Not only did the businesses and citizens of Kanab give generously, they also came out to participate in the affair and gave again. The day was on the cool side but it didnt rain. This was a stroke of luck for the Second Ward car wash. They were able to wear themselves out beautifying our cars. We moved the entertainment into the school because of the weather, but it was more fun to have the entertainment going on alongside the rest of the activities, and it brought more people into our games, sales, and food. Our thanks to Jane Tanner and all of the performers and their instructors who put together some wonderful talent. Who would have thought that those needle bearing, blood pressure cuff carrying, finger pricking people in white could make health checks so great? They, were not only smiling, gentle, and enjoyable to visit with, but had people to inform and guide us into their area for the check. They even had a drawing for an attractive and compact first aid kit that Mary Hegge won. They added a lot and provided a needed service. All the groups who sponsored games, sales, and food really came through. You made everyone feel welcome, you cheered the participants on and gave us a prize anyway, and you cleaned up after yourselves. A special thanks to Steve Turner and others who allowed themselves to get soaked and chilled to the bone in the dunking machine. I tasted everythingon the menu except the hamburgers and by the time I got out there to get one they were all sold out. Ill have to get one at the next function that the Lions Club cooks at. I had a lot of fun getting my face painted. That booth was nonstop. My helium balloon followed me around for a long time but at the end of the day it had disap peared. Thanks also to our clowns who stood there all day adding to the atmosphere and festivity of the occasion. I hope you didnt go home speakingone octave higher from breathing helium fumes. And to our sales booths: crafts, thrift, handiwork, art, plants and baked goods, we got some good deals. Gene Drake, Brandon Bartlett and Ben Tanner were our M.C.s. They kept us informed as to what was going on, where it was taking place, and who was sponsoring the bazaar items. The auction was fun to watch. That Robert Childs can really make his mouth work, cant he? With so much going on, our auction got started a little behind schedule. How can you thank people enough for the generosity they showed in givingtheir goods and services to our auction? I have added respect and appreciation for people like you who get milked to death for every benefit that comes along, and yet you keep giving and giving. You may not have noticed, but heroes there were some g moving quietly about the school halls-th- e members of the Amateur Radio Club.
