Show SOUTHERN UTAH NEWS Opinion 5 WEDNESDAY MAY 17, 1995 Letters Continued from Page 4 there is generally not a problem. The incident that I called the dear writer (she called me a dear caller) about took place up at the ditch on 300 North which is city property, and concerned her lecturing one of my children to the point of my child becoming upset and coming home. She talked extensively on the leash law and requested that my child pass on this valuable information to our neighbors and other passersby as well. Now Ive been told that there are several stray cats living in that ditch, and that they are being fed by you know who. Could that be why my dogs and children are not welcome there? I regularly shovel up doggie messes from my yard that are not from my dogs, and I have been known to clean messes that look familiar off of neighbors yards. Bigdeal! When I took on two large dogs I knew that was going to be part of the bargain. I do wonder about some people and their common sense when I see their leashed dogs defecate on the church lawn, or the BLM lawn and the owner watches and then leaves it for the caretaker to worry about. There oughta be a law!! There are no cat control laws that Im aware of. If we have to keep our kids sandboxes covered, doesnt that amount to fencing our yards to protect ourselves from irresponsible dog owners? What about prowling cats that make that scary crying baby noise? Or the ones that fight under my bedroom window at 3:00 a.m.? In other words, there are more serious things happening in Kanab. Great job, Chief Crosby on breaking up the theft ring! I am kind of offended though. That is if the dear writer was referring to my Buckingham as a Yellow Lab. His color is known as dead grass and he is 100 Chesapeake Bay Retriever. My dogs are treated so well that a certain member of our family sometimes wishes aloud that he was one of them! And lastly, to the other uninformed local dissident wont you please come forward? That McCausland dude must have made the papers circulation (literally) go through the roof. It was hard to explain to my husband why there were 10 papers with his picture circled laying around the house. He didnt buy the pat I got them for the articles bit, that he thinks works only for him. I wasnt sure what they were trying to accomplish with the tearing up of the island in the middle of town, so I watched one day. It was evident after five to ten minutes, that they werent sure either. It looked to me like there were a lot of Chiefs, and very few Indians. But a week or later, it was finished. Now kids can get run over in the crosswalk by cars going at a faster speed, and cars can turn from any lane they want, cause none of them are marked! To help you take better pictures, Chuck DeLaney, of the New York Institute of Photography, offers these three hints: 1. Decide what you want to be your subject. Is it the Statue of Liberty, or is it Junior standing at her feet? Decide before you shoot. It cant be both. 2. Make your subject big. If your subject is the Statue, fill the frame from top to bottom. If its Junior, try moving closer.
