Fredonia Elementary Yearbook staff completes book The Fredonia Elementary Yearbook staff has been working hard to complete this years Yearbook. The final pages went to the printer on March 10, and the completed book should be back and ready to sell about May 23. So to help defray these costs, the Yearbook staff is sponsoring a talent show for the students to participate in, Thursday, April 27 at 7 p.m. in the Fredonia Elementary gym. The price at the door will be $1 per person (a minimal fee for an evenings entertainment). Mr. Nils G. Bayles of Kanab is a lifetime educator. He graduated from Parowan High School and earned a doctorate at UNLV. He has been the superintendent of schools for Kane County since 1987. His experi- ence includes service as a teacher, assistant principal, and principal in Washington and Kane counties and in Clark County, Nevada. He has also worked as a teacher, principal, and coordinator in the LDS Seminary program. We congratulate Mr. Bayles. This is an honor for him, as well as our community. Kanab High VICA scores high Honor students On April and Kanab High the school in the category of Law announced at School sent Von Spencer, Enforcement and was awarded Utah State Kasey Ramsay, Tom Avant, first place. His judges Matt Justin mented 5 6 com- Robinson, Heydorn, Rodney Staton, and Greg Hamblin to compete in the Vocational Industrial Clubs of America (VICA) contests. This years competition was held at UVSC in Orem, Utah. These young men, along with their advisor George Kelly, were kept very busy on leadership meetings in addition to the contests. A student must carry fifteen or more credit hours and earn a 3.5 or better grade point average to achieve honor roll. Honor students include Kevin McKay Heaton of Alton, in agriculture and Richard C. Robinson, Kanab, in engineering. Aurelia Johnson scholarship winner Aurelia Johnson of Orderville won a Youth for Understanding International Exchange Scholarship, sponsored by FHA Kikkoman. She will be traveling to Japan and staying with a host family for the summer. Aurelia Johnson is the daughter of Robert M. and Laura Johnson. |
