That was $2,600,000 from the taxpayers pockets. H.B. 182 - This bill would have given authority to safety patrol members to direct traffic at school crossings. H.B. 258 - This bill would have established the enactment of the property tax ceilings that governments could not collect over each year. It would have provided population and property values which the local governments would be restricted by in the assessing and collecting of revenues through taxation. Besides the failure of these bills, some have passed from their respective committees and are progressing through the system. Two of them I feel are more important. I am for the passing of one, but I am against the other respectively. These two bills are: H.B. 13 - This bill concerns the proposed income tax The reven increase of area and the ments hear from each of you who have taken the time to contact me by telephone and by letter. House 533-481- This is the infamous child restrainnient bill providing the required use of car seats and seat belts in the carrying of infants and children in motor vehicles. This bill was passed from the Senate in an amended form which only would have required car restraining seats for front seat passengers. But now these amendments have been removed by the legislators in the House committee and the bill now stands in its original form more or less. This is a bill that I am sure most of you from District 73 are against. I would appreciate your support and suggestions on this bill as I work to oppose the passing of it. Please contact me before February 22 if you oppose this S.B. 17 bill. '. This letter. I - P.S. It has come to my attention that H.B. 33 will be coming up very shortly in Energy and Natural Resources standing committee. I am particularly concerned about this bill because it would require $1,500,000 in additional taxpayers' money to implement. It seeks to establish a board of state zoos whose members would be the State. by appointed Ironically, this board would not have power to administer its decisions over the zoos, especially Hogle Zoo if it is acquired by the State. I feel that passage of this bill would see the w aste of the taxpayers money on an ineffective government creation.
