The Wayne Millers of Panguitch visited at the LaNard Johnson, where they enjoyed, with other members of the family, a dinner in honor of LaNard's birthday. Leland is a cousin of Jane and also of Eva Jorgensen Blackburn. Lelahd and his wife also visited with Eva and Tone before going north. A very large congregation enjoyed the mission report of Elder Merlin Esplin on Sunday. Speakers were his mother, Betty Esplin, who spoke of the blessings received and the joy they have had in being missionary parents for the past three and a half years while Mack served in Montana and Merlin served in Louisiana. They are especially happy that several missionary companions of Merlins have come to be with him at this special time. They came from St. George, Salt Lake City and Centerville. It must be quite an experience to have six missionaries in your home at once but if anyone is equal to it Betty and Mack are. Bill Sorbe sang a beautiful missionary song titled. Well Done, Thou Good and Faithful Servant." Elder Merlin Esplin spoke of some of the special experiences of his mission and put enough spice and happiness into it to help us realize that missionary work can truly be a happy and wonderful experience. He has learned some valuable lessons for his labors among the people of the south. Sometimes it takes allyouve got to keep going, in life and in missionary work. The blessings of holding the priesthood were made evident to him when he was called in to bless a very sick child of parents who were having the lessons. The father was a Catholic and when the Elders came to give the blessing, he thought they were performing Last Rites--h- e left the room in tears and was astonished when they took the baby to the emergency room of the hospital after had been given the blessing and found that he was completely well." Merlin expressed appreciation for his parents, for their love, their concern, their faith in him and their teachings that have proved so valuable in his calling as a missionary. He felt a great lesson learned was that we must give service to show our love for our Savior and that it is important to act upon our feelings or desire to serve others. It is wonderful to feel the missionary spirit in our midst when we listen to these reports as our missionaries come home and report their labors for the Lord. May this spirit of service abide with them, and us, through the years to come. 644-525- Mekts LUMT MOTOR CO. Cedcr City 586-659- 1 nicotine, but it does ease withdrawal symptoms. The other day I went with Sherman out the old highway past the City Dump to take Ebbi Lu. our little Granddaughter and the dog. out for a little outing which was a good idea so far as the outing was concerned. However this is what I wanted to mention to you. If you think our streets are a mess with all the rain and pipe planting that has been going on you should take a trip out past Happy Service on the road to the dump. 1 was simply ashamed for us, "the people of Kanab." It is simply something else. It would take all the people in the area at least a week to even begin to clean up the mess that is strewn along the road on both sides. There are piles of stuff on the other side from the dump and out farther past the dump. Do we need laws to make us do the things to avoid such things? Maybe it would take having a policeman out there at all times to see that the laws were kept. What a mess. Lets try to do better shall we? Now for the Update. The Pot Luck Dinner will be coming early again this Month. It will be March 15th which is Tuesday at 6:30 at the Center. Ann&Deal has another special program for us. This time there will be some students from Fredonia with special numbers. I'm not sure just what but we know they will be good. We hope we have as many there as we had last month. See you all there.
