Bountiful residents Roland and Jean Howe will be celebrating 52 Valentines Days together this year. A tractor pulled the sleigh and it was the funnest party I've ever been to, said Jean. Although they knew each other's families, the blind date was the first time they actually met. Roland lived in the mouth of Daniels Canyon where his dad was a farmer and raised horses. Jean lived in Charleston They were mamed two years later and will celebrate their 53rd anniversary in May. When he graduated from high school, Roland went to trade school in California. He was enrolled in the engineering program. I nearly finished engineering, but decided I was a mechanic, said Roland. After they married, they lived in Bountiful, Wendover and, as an Army reservist during WWII, in After they Olympia, Wash. returned to Davis County, they built a home in Centerville where they lived for 40 years. They had six children, Steven, Gary, Denis, Mark, Kent and Rojcanne. Mark and Kent are deceased.
