The following is a report issued by the Division of Wildlife Resources. Bountiful Pond: The pond has recently been stocked with fish, but because of the weather the fishing remains slow. Farmington Pond: The ice on the pond has melted because of the warm weather, but the fishing is slow. East Canyon: The lake is starting to freeze, but is still considered unsafe. Try using Powerbait and rapalas from the bank. Rockport: Fishing has been very good, with lots of rainbows and perch being caught. The shorelines have some open water spots and you have to be selective about where you step out onto the ice. Willard Bay: The reservoir is not ice covered and fishing remains poor. Hyrum: Ice conditions are unsafe, with open water and water on top of the ice. Fishermen are catching a few trout, but no yellow perch as of yet. Newton: Due to warmer weather the ice on Newton is no longer safe. THe reservoir is ice covered, but the edges have melted and going on the ice is not recommended. The official name of the gym will now be the Don H. Perkins Fieldhouse. An open house will be held at 5:30 p.m. in Bountiful High's main foyer, and then Perkins will be honored in a special ceremony at halftime of the Bountiful versus Murray game later that night.
