Every two years these special competitions are held to select the top three tumblers and trampolinists to represent the U.S. in all international competitions. The first of these trials will be held in Bozeman. MT, on April 26 and 27, the second in Quincy, 111., on May 24 and 25. and the last in Las Vegas, NV, on the first or second weekend in July. Stacy Hansen, Teddie Endow and Julie Beaty have repeatedly placed in the lop to at national and world competitions in tumbling while Kay Davis has received the same honors in trampoline competition. Julie has, in fact, already represented the U.S. on a platform team in Bulgaria where she placed 5th after finals. The are busy raising the necessary funds to send these and competitors possibly a couple of others to the trials along with their coach, Jim Aamodt. Team manager Terry Ellis will also be attending as she has been selected by the USAF Board of Directors to be a judge for the team selections. The United States Acrogymnastics Federation (USAF) of the AAU has the international sanction to host these important meets will also be hosting the USAF within the United States. The regional meet at Murray High School on April 18 and 19 where 10 states will be sending their competitiors to qualify for the important USAF Nationals. The Montana meet directors have also requested information on the team to be used for advertisement and fund raising purposes to show the local populace the caliber of competitors coming to the meet. Films and articles are being prepared for this purpose. Superkids perform during halftime of Denver cage contest Tami Greenes Superkids, a professional junior drill team from Ogden, has made headlines again with their recent performance in Denver, Colorado. The girls marched and performed last Tuesday evening at the halftime of the Denver Nuggetts-UtaJazz NBA basketball game in Denver, was Colorado. The response tremendous was the report received back from the mothers and teachers of the group. h The Superkids also performed in March at the halftime of the Oregon r basketball game at the Dee Events Center on the campus of Weber State College. The game was part of the NCAA basketball playoffs. The response there was pleasing again to mothers, the girls themselves and of course their instructors. LORI NORTHROP Students from Taylor Elementary School, 315 of them, jogged altogether k more than 4,288 miles during a period to take top honors in the one-wee- elementary school category of the Weber State College jogging contest held last week. The contest was sponsored by the WSC department of health, physical education and recreation in con junction with National Physical Education and Sports Week.
