| Show DEATH OF PROMINENT CITIZEN when the angel of 0 death entered the home of peter C jensen and called the father a home was left desolate and the community was robbed of one of 0 its most stalwart citizens mr jensen was operated upon tuesday tu es of last week lor for appendicitis and a complication 0 of troubles from which 1 ahe be had been a euf sufferer ferer for many years I 1 i he progressed nicely tor for the first few days but hla his body had bad become so I 1 weakened by the years 0 of suffering which he had passed thru that lie he had bad no vitality to back him up in his bis fight tor for life and on saturday a change came which indicated that the sick roan man was growing weaker this continued until monday afternoon and lie he was removed from the hospital to his bis home I 1 an fn i n the hope that the change would prove beneficial and the home influences would act as a but lie he continued to sink until the end came about 8 oe lock peter C jensen was bom in fit brigham city august 30 1861 and was the son ot of the late bishop peter jensen of mantua when he was four years of 0 age his parents removed to mantua where he be grew to manhood manhood and spent the greater part of his life his faither was manager of the coop co op store there and when the son grew to young manhood he was installed as manager to succeed his father this was before mr dinsen ji ansen was married that event oc curing in 1881 when lie he led miss amelia keller to the altar A more more devoted pair never lived jogise berhan r t ah did peter C jensen and his good wife they had bad troubles a plenty too for li 11 1 children were born to toa them and eight out of the eleven preceded their father and mother to the other side As climax to this long list ot of sad experiences perien ces the wife and mother was called home in january 1909 since that time mr air jensen has been a changed man and tho surrounded by affectionate ft late children he seemed unable to recover from the great loss which he sustained these things coupled with bodily ailments made his cup of sorrow full and running over and yet withal witha he was a man of genial disposition and always greeted his bences with a pleasant smile and a kind word since the ahe death of his wife he lived tor for his children two of whom are unmarried and their every want was an anticipated tie and granted in return his daughters lavished their love and affection upon their father and did all in their power to bring sunshine into his home and it was a most happy home despite the troubles that had torn it in the past while a resident of mantua amri mr jensen served as assistant superintendent in the sunday school and then was superintendent tor for a period of 8 years he had bad to give up his labors in that capacity in 1900 and went to california with his family in the hope that his health might be restored for a year they lived at san diego and during that time mr air jemesea jensen gave his hie services to the branch of the church at that place and labored la in connection with the missionaries to spread the gospel which he had a testimony of returning home in 1901 the family resided at mantua until 1908 when they moved to brigham Drig hain city mr jensen was road supervisor at mantua for a season and was waa called from there to perform home missionary work throughout the western part of this county upon his bis removal to this city his activities did not cease tor for he was made a ward teacher la in the first ward and upon the death of bishop mcmaster who was waa a member of the city council at the time mr jensen was appointed to succeed him and fill the term which he did with honor and integrity lie he was also continued on reo go ahr Th threll ORTHOF aror NENT Centia ted from roc first pta made a member of the box elder stake religion religion class board and served faithfully in that position until the tha time or of his bis death mr jensen was an honest man in a all 11 that the word vord implies frugal wise in his dealings yet generous and most kind hearted he be was a man whose Nf influence luence was for good where ever it was felt by his judicious lai L bors ina commercial commer lai way he succeed 1 ed cd in providing himself and family with sufficient means so that ho he was waa not compelled to labor hard during the later years when his health became so poor la in his passing a good man has bag gone to rest and the world has been made better by his having lived in it universal sympathy goes out to his daughters eulalla and verda erda who were wrape up in their father and in whose love and tender affection they basked the sunshine tins has all but gone out of their lives and only the unseen power can heal the wound that has beer made by the taking of their father and protector another daughter mrs maud hansen and sev eral era grand children survive mr jensen funeral services are being hold held this afternoon at 1 I in the first ward chapel |
