Its important to find out how we can best serve peoples needs with our limited Review Correspondent ROY - Suzanne Hess Hogan, recently appointed as the new children and young adults librarian at the Southwest Branch Library in Roy, believes the library is an important resource that can bring added meaning to peoples lives. Whatever interest you have, the library has something to offer. We want young people to realize that if they like break dancing, we have that. If they like computers or robots, we have that too, said Ms Hogan. A former junior high school teacher, she said she has special feelings for young adults. For them, the library is even a more vital place than it is for children. budget. Although this is Ms Hogans first job as a childrens librarian, she has extensive experience working with younger children as well as teenagers. As a volunteer, she did childrens programing at the Salt Lake Library and with the Ogden City Council in Ogden elementary schools. Based on her experience Ms. Hogan believes that physical activities in childrens programming are every bit as important in a library setting as reading. That means young patrons can expect plenty of action. When I read The Velveteen Rabbit, I ask the children to imagine how they would feel if they finally had real legs like the rabbit in the story. Then I put on music and encourage them to express how they feel though cre- - They have thousands of questions about life and dont feel they have any place to go. Here is a chance to tap your resources and your imagination. This is a worthy campaign," said Glenn Overland, Utahs fundraising coordinator for the Statue. Two years ago, a goal of $230 million was targeted to overhaul and restore both the Statue and Ellis Island, where it stands. So far, $135 million has been pledged, he said. Overland said he had his job cut out for him, since the Foundation has only appointed at the most, two campaign workers to each state. The regional campaign will be geared toward Utah, Idaho, Wyoming, Montana and Nevada. Utah and Davis County residents seem to be more patriotic than most Americans, Overland said. The state had a greater turnout of people to see the Olympic torch runner than other States.
