Show 2C Lakeside Review North, Wednesday, January 23, 1985 Free-Thro- w Winners Announced Three boys and three girls ages won the first round of competition in the Elks Hoop Shoot contest at Roy Recreation Complex on Jan. 12 and have been named city champions. The winner for the boys are Blake Evans, Hooper, Eric Schiff-maHooper; and Casey Smith, Layton. The winners for the girls are Shanda Gailey, Roy; Mindy Evans, Hooper; and Kathryn 8-- free-thro- w n. Browning, Roy. e trophies will be awarded to one boy and one girl in each of three age catagories: First-plac- ages 10-1- 8-- 9, 1 or 12-1- 3. The six champions now advance to district finals in Ogden on Feb. 2, where they will compete with other winners from throughout the area. The Elks Hoops Shoot began as a local program by Corvallis, Oregon Elks in 1946. It is now in its 13th year of national competition. Girls Basketball Falcons, Darts, Braves Win After three rounds in the Region 4 girls basketball league. Highland has assumed its customary spot at the top with a 0 mark by defeating Woods Cross 8 in Salt Lake City Friday. 'Meanwhile in Region 1, Clearfield and Bonneville remain in a tie for the league lead with 0 marks each. The Falcons beat up on Weber 0 and Bonneville downed 3-- 66-5- 2-- 56-4- Roy 51-3- 6. In other league action, Davis 1 in a defeated Bountiful game much closer than the score indicated. And Viewmont had an eqsy time with East, winning by nearly 30 points. 55-4- Clearfield 56, Weber 40 'The pressing Warriors 0 prised Clearfield with a first quarter lead, but in the second quarter the Falcons broke the pfess and the game wide open as Clearfield coasted to an easy win. Shelley Heaps led the Falcons with 14 points, followed by Janna Mower with 13 points and 12 rebounds.
