One does not associate it, especially, with rural, western United States. But fashion photography has come to Price. The Cool-Re- d Image and Scott are synonomous. Scott is Cooper the photographer and his wife, Paula, is the only other employee. She is secretary, bookkeeper and prod. Cooper started the business ago in the just a basement of The Gallery photo shop. He had been wanting to begin the business for about two or three year prior to that, he year-and-a-h- said. Photo Part of being a fashion photographer is knowing how to pose models. Here Cooper has one of the models move slightly to the Recent accounts Cooper has worked on are the photo display ads in the Sun Advocate for For Every Body, a sports clothes shop in Price, and the Miss Charisma of Utah pageant' at the Radisson Inn in Price. I do tons of custom printing, Cooper said. I do a lot of old photograph restorations. Cooper has set up a professional custom printing laboratory and does both color and black and white work. He has done some excellent by Ed McKoevor right for the effect with a potted palm he , wants. An interesting sidelight to his younger life is the fact that he and Price Police Officer Bill Barnes dated the same girl at the same time while both at- work on old photographs for the Western Railroad and Mining Museum in Helper. Many local residents have brought to him old photos of families and towns in the area and Cooper has cleaned and copied the photographs. . Another area of expertise for the fashion photographer, is shooting portfolios for girls in the area. He has done many portfolios for girls who are actively seeking careers in modelling and others who are looking toward tended the University, but neither knew the other at that time. It was only after we were both in Carbon County and got to visiting that we realized we were the other guy, Cooper said. He came to Carbon County and worked for the countys animal control department for several years. Eventually he beauty pageants. Tracy Kennick, a local junior high girl who has been nationally recognized in a model search by Teen magazine, has appeared in the magazine already and it was a Cooper photograph that was featured. Most of her portfolio has been became director of that department. It was at that time he quit working for the county and began doing fashion e photography on a full-tim- basis. Cooper had worked in animal control in the Salt Lake City area prior to his employment by Carbon County. Scott Cooper enjoys what he is doing now and continues to expand his business. He has begun working on ideas for retail advertisers in the eastern Utah area, much the same as an advertising agency would do in the larger metropolitan areas of the country. That may be the next step and then Price would have a real rarity a fashion photographer and an advertising agency. done by Cooper. Cooper has always been interested in art forms. For 2 as a years he worked part-tim- e 10-1- illustrator, using free-lan- ce pencil and ink sketches as his primary medium. He began illustrating in high school. Cooper is from the Salt Lake City area. He attended high school at Brighton and then went on to the University of Utah where he majored in coffee shop before dropping out of school.
