Show 1 1 f ' I 1 c THE GREEN SHEET Thursday, Sept. 29, 1988 MILESTONF.Q Glenn And Helen Hanson Note Golden Anniversary E. and Helen Olander Hanson, the two people who hand-buitheir cabin in the wilds home on Plum Street in Murray, are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. Their children are hosting an open house on Oct. 1 which will be from 3 to 6 p.m. at their home. 4716 Plum Street. The two were married on Oct. 6, 1938 in Provo. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Glenn is a carpenter and their home is a testimony in wood and rock to his skills. Naturally with the close cooperation and help of Helen every step of the way. It all began with a small summer home they built one year. They were so pleased with it that they decided to build a real home here in Murray. They bought their own chain saw, cut the trees, hauled the logs to Evanston where they were then cut as specified and finally trucked to the Murray site. "It took us four years to build our home," the two of them say, "but we paid our way every step of the way. The trees we planted as small pines now tower over the home making it truly a forest home. This wasnt the only hobby Glenn excelled in. He enjoys working with rocks and polished rock tables became his specialty, as well as using the stones in copper jewelry which he markets. He taught lapidary classes for over 15 years, is a member of the Wasatch Gem Society and was president of the organization at their instigation, when, Governor Rampton declared the Topaz stone, unique to Utah, as the State Gem. Helen is an African Violet enthusiast and has a special room where she can grow and work with her plants. They both enjoy gardening, growing berries and fruit as well Glenn Carl And Marie Crawford Reach 60th Anniversary lt The two are active members of the Retired Senior Citizens from the Kennecott Smelter, and Marie is an active member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. Parents of seven children, their family includes Leona Halton, Phyllis (Mrs. Herbert L.) Longton, and Doris (Mrs. Gene B.) Taylor, all of Kearns; Norine Feldmann of and fall. The family of Carl and Marie Crawford will host an open house in honor of their parents 60th wedding anniversary on October 8th in the Magna South State Center, 7731 W. 3500 South, between the hours of 3 and 6 p.m. There will be a program at 5 p.m. Carl and Marie met at the Hotel Escalante 'in Cedar City during Active members of the LDS church, Carl and Marie have served in different many positions. Presently in their ward, they serve as genealogical name extractors. They have worked weekly at the Salt Lake Temple for the past ten years, and are presently working at the Jordan River Temple where they have California Carol Orangeville, (Mrs. Ren) brown and Melvin Crawford of Magna; and LeRoy Crawford of West Valley City. They have been part of the community for the past 37 years. Although Carl has retired from Kennecott Copper, he has not retired from working.
