But the season also is characterized by a lot of fires, many of which are traced back to seasonal decorations. Most fires can be prevented by taking the following simple safety precautions: Keep light strings and other electrical decorations out of children s reach. Children are attracted to pretty lights Adam Goodman Adam Goodman is returning home after serving two years as an LDS missionary in Brazil. He worked in both the Sao Paulo and the newly created Brazil Campinas areas. His report meeting will be held in the Benmon First Ward, 6020 So. 1300 West, Sunday, December 28th at 12:45 p.m. The returning missionary is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Karl N. Goodman and an open house will be held at their home, 1463 West 6020 South following the meeting. Adam is a graduate of Taylorsville high and would welcome seeing his friends. Tammy Barber Will Marry Darrine Dixon Bryan Wayne Boam Bryan Wayne Boam, son of Dr. and Mrs. G. Wayne Boam, has been called to serve an LDS mission in Guatemala City, Guatamala. Bryan was born in East Lansing, Michigan but was raised in Taylorsville and graduated from Taylorsville high in 1985. He has just attended the fall semester at Brigham Young University. A farewell meeting to honor him will be held Sunday, January 11, 1987 in the Taylorsville 21st ward, 955 West 4800 South at 10:50 a.m. A double open house will be held on Jan. 17th from 3 to 6 p.m. in the Taylorsville 21st ward to honor both Bryan and his friend Stephen Ronald W'ard who will also soon leave to serve an LDS mission in the Philippine Islands. Both men will enter the training center on January 21, 1987. Mr. and Mrs. Robert B. Barber of West Valley City are announcing the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter Tammy to Darrine Dixon also of West Valley. Mr. and Mrs. T. Edward Dixon are of the the parents future bridegroom. Miss Barber graduated from Granger high and is a junior at Brigham Young University, majoring m elementary education. Her fiance graduated from Granger high and just returned from an LDS mission to Perth, Australia. Their marriage is being planned for early spring of 1987. Use light strings that have been tested for safety. Look for the UL Mark. Check each light set for broken or cracked sockets, frayed or bare wires and loose connections. Replace worn or broken light sets. Overloading circuits with too many decorative lights andor light strings can cause fire. Check marking on product for maximum number of lampholders andor light strings which can be connected together. Check marking on light string. Never use decorative light strings marked For Indoor Use outdoors. Unplug light string or decorative light before making repairs, replacing lamps or replacing integral fuse. Always turn off tree lights before leaving home or going to bed. A short circuit can cause a fire. To prevent overheating or damage, use only decorative lamp features packaged with each string or follow manufacturer's instructions. Make sure your tree is fresh when you buy it. If the needles are brown and break off easily, the tree is a greater fire risk. Keep your tree base holder filled specified fuses to replace burned-ou- t fuses on decorative light strings. with water at all times.
