Show THE GREEN SHEET 5 As We See It Capra's Masterpiece 17, 1936 Thursday, July - Rodney Deserves Respect Avalon Finds 'Lost Horizon' By Mark Cartwright & B.J. Harrison 11 S. sV.rnmertinie, which means he studios bombard the theaters and video stores with products. We 11 be reviewing these releases and giving you our opinions as to their entertainment value. Unnin Scare4 starring Gregory (White Knights) Hines and Billy Crystal as two cops who are quitting vice squad and planning on liv. ing the good life in Florida where they have bought a bar. Director Peter Hyams ability to handle action and comedy with equal ease makes Running Scared a hysterical cop film, better than Police Academy and certainly worth your attention. Its marvelous. Rodney Dangerfield is certainly getting a lot of respect at the box office with Back To School, which is about a middle-age- d high school drop-ou- t whos a self-mad- e millionaire with a new e and a son who wants to drop out of college. To keep his son in college, Rodney registers and his antics turn the campus upside down and leave the audience in convulsive laughter from the first frame to the final credits If you thought he was funny in Caddyshack or Easy Money, put your money on Back to School. Director John Carpenter managed to capture Kurt Russell at his best in Big Trouble in Little China, a surprise action adventure film which is keeping audiences entertained all over town. Russell gets mixed up with a Chinese friend whos had his fiance kidnapped. Not one to stand back from a good adventure, Russell goes storming along to help his friend and manages to go from frying pan to fire, leaving his special brand of humor along the way. Its not a message picture, just sheer Alice in Wonderland. Adults wont find the special effects Lucas is noted for. Bowie fans wont get the usual Bowie vocals, but the kids should like it if they havent seen Fraggle Rock. 3 Men And A Cradle is a French comedy about three single men living together and having the good life until they discover a baby left on their doorstep. Watching these three try to cope with everything from bottle feeding through diaper changing should leave you in stitches. Theres plenty of interaction, emotion and even though it is its so well acted and directed, its one of the few entertainimg films to come out of France in a long time. Available in video are Jewel of the Nile starring Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner in a passable sequel to Romancing the Stone. Danny sub-title- LOTS kids.-Davi- To Aid Development OF RESPECT kind since The Candidate. Tell the voters what they want to hear until youre elected, then say whatever you want. Power is gripping entertainment and possibly all too true. (Hear Mark and B. J. review films and videos on As We See It, Mon.-Fr- i. 12:30 and 6:30 p.m. on WKRP 1550 AM Radio.) . . . Our woofer of the week is Under The Cherry Moon, which only die- hard Prince fans may enjoy. Anyone looking for a counter piece to Purple Rain or the type of music Prince is known for will be terribly disappointed. The acting is stilted with dialogue that appears forced in places. The music is strictly background and the entire mess was a waste of their time and your money. Labyrinth from George Lucas and Jim Henson is strictly for Bowie stars in what could have been titled The Muppets Meqt DeVito is back again and saves the picture from being bogged down.
