Show 2C THE GREEN SHEET 11, 1985 Thursday, April Popular In Medieval Times, Too - BLUE RIBBON HOME IMPROVEMENT Consider Fabric For Covering Walls The use of fabric to cover walls is again becoming popular, just as in medieval times. Tapestries were once the most elegant use of fabric on walls. While looking beautiful, they cut down on cold drafts in castles that were more impressive than comfortable. Today, were more concerned with the decorative effect, although painting your walls with fabric can be as functional as it is aesthetic. a wall or a room Fabricating adds color, design and texture in a way that paint and wallpaper can not. If youve ever decorated with fabric and wallpaper, matching you know the color is never quite the same because of the difference in fiber and texture. Fabric is easier and faster to put up than wallpaper; fabric is wider, requiring fewer seams; it will not tear and can be coaxed over small bumps; it is quick to remove when stapled or starched and - it can be used again. The luxurious Took of an upholstered wall is due to the padding behind the fabric, giving a softer, more sculptural contour to a room. Its a custom look that cant be duplicated by any other wallcovering. In addition, the combination of fabric and padding adds insulation qualities and absorbs a great deal of sound - terrific for the rooms of teen-agewith stereos. The fabric an go right over wallpaper, paint, drywall, wood paneling, brick, stucco or rough plaster. Its a superb cosmetic facelift for walls in poor condition. Upholstered walls also dont chip or peel, the fabric can be recycled if you are ready for-change and an occasional vacuuming is the only cleaning necessary. -- a Though It s An Important Fixture - Sink Is Often Forgotten The kitchen is almost invariably the hub of the home and when it comes to kitchen remodeling, the kitchen sink should be one of the first considerations. material.
