Show 2 THE GREEN SHEET Thursday, April 11, 1985 Spoirtto 10 Gain Spot On Green Sheet Girls Honor Cage Squad o MURRAY. Ten outstanding girls players have been selected by the coaches in the various Green Sheet area regions as members of the Green Sheet Area 1985 Honor Cage Squad. The 10 played in three regions, Two, Three and Six. For some area schools, especially Judge Memorial, it was a banner year. Other teams struggled, but were playing young players and should be a force next season. It is no surprise with a flossy 22-- 2 record, Judge Memorial placed the most players on the team, including the Most Valuable Player. What is a little surprising is that four of the players, including three of the top five, were underclassmen. Two are repeaters off last years Honor Squad and the squad is top heavy with guards. Judge Memorial junior Kelly Shaheen was a key reason the Lady Bulldogs captured third in the state tourney, losing only to eventual champion Ogden by a scant two points. Shaheen was the leading scorer for Coach Mo Eckroth with a 20.0 average. She also grabbed 8.4 rebounds, an amazing stat for a point guard. She hit 55 percent from the field and also had 4.8 steals per outing. Eckroth plans to move Shaheen to the off guard position next season. Another junior who had a superb season was Cyprus high Shari Snow, also a point guard. She pumped in an average of 23 points per game, hit 83 percent of her charity tosses and 57 percent from the field and had 6.3 assists per game for Coach Jennifer Orison. Olympus high's Jana Parker is a repeater off last years team and is also a point guard. She scored at a 20 points per game clip for Coach Linda Mayne, dished out eight assists and was a stable force for the Titans. She has accepted a full ride at a New Mexico junior college. Also playing at a guard spot was basketball O H1 Lori Dahl, a 5 fireball who led Taylorsville to a state tourney berth under Coach Sandy Catten. Her quickness and passing ability were important factors in the teams success. Andrea Wright is considering three scholarship offers and is a repeater of last years squad. She filled the center slot for Olympus and wa$ often dominant. She averaged 10 rebounds, 14.5 points 5-- Area Athletes Attain Honor Roll Status PROVO.
