And so, plans were laid for a new hospital. A hospital that could keep up with community growth for generations to come. A hospital that could provide the quality of care previously reserved for east side hospitals and do so with west side friendliness and affordability. On Sept. 15, 1983, Pioneer Valley hospital opened its doors. As the only major hopsital west of State Street, Pioneer Valley is now the primary source of medical care and physician referral for an area ranging from West Valley to West Jordan and from Main Streeet to the Oquirrh Mountains. Pioneer Valley is also in the forefront of cutting health care costs. Pioner Valley hospital plans to continue improving health care services to west side residents and industry in 1985. Plans include the addition of a comprehensive health and wellness center, community education programs, a breast cancer and screening (mammography) education unit and expanded outpatient (same day) services. The value of having a major hospital located on the west side is unmeasurable. As an investor-owne- d hospital, Pioneer Valley has contributed thousands of dollars in taxes to the community. More importantly, skilled physicians are being attracted to the area and setting up their practices here. No longer do west side residents have to drive clear across town for professional medical help. As West Valley and its neighboring communities continue to grow and develop, Pioneer Valley hospital will continue to provide the finest in medical services at reasonable cost. For health care, the best is now found in the west. one-stor- It's Easy, Here's How To Play: When you pay your Green Sheet carrier he or she will give you a numbered receipt. The city administration has been investigating those concerns and an answer is expected soon. Many residents favor locating the city hall as close to the citys geographical center as possible, which would be in the vicinity of Pioneer Valley hospital. However, the ruling out of West Valley park site seems to have killed that idea. There is public opposition to the third alternative under consideration. Opponents say it is too far from the city center and would make it difficult for the elderly or handicapped to access. While Mayor Jerry Maloney has indicated a liking to the Granger park site, he has also expressed an interest in the third alternative. A city hall site evaluation prepared for the city by Paul Nelson Associates last November rated the West Valley Highway site second of the three. The site is only 1.2 miles from the geographic center of the city, the study reported, and it also reported that access is good. The city is now being aided in its search by the City Planning Commission and, said Newman, welcomes suggestions from the public. Newman said its likely the issue will be appearing soon on the council agenda. COUPON- - Offer Does Not Include New Releases appreciate YOU our customers.
