Show M Ai Fox Hills School - Survival Is Among Offerings KEARNS. A class, outdoor survival, science, gymnastics, dance, arts and crafts, math and reading are included in the summer school program at Fox Hills elementary. JoAnn Bellm is teaching the outdoor survival class which includes 25 children in third to fifth grades. The students are learning how to make fire starters using dryer lint, egg cartons and wax;-blujean backpacks and buddy burners. They have hiked to a pond area and to a semi-desearea, (a dry field near the school) and discussed .ways to survive if lost in either kind of terrain. They are also planning a bus ride into the mountains for a hike. Outdoor cooking projects have included fixing a breakfast of over the buddy burner and makover an open fire. CRAFTS CLASS . . . Fox Hills to play On City Streets Abandoned Vehicles Are Police Targets WEST VALLEY. A crackdown on abandoned vehicles is being launched by the West Valley Police Department, Chief David C. Campbell said yesterday (Wednesday). The chief said the decision to rigidly enforce the citys ordinance on that subject was the result of increasing numbers of citizen complaints about vehicles left on West Valley streets. "Many vehicles were rendered inoperable during the past winter months, added Lt. Terry M. Keefe, and patrol division commander, still have not been removed from the street. "The city ordinance states, he added, that no vehicle shall be left abandoned or parked on any street for more than 72 hours.
