The impound wrecker took the car away. The officer was aware that the driver had gone into the bank and was well aware that most banks have phones. The officer then left the area. The driver, who had called her friend for a ride prior to the car being towed away, became angry that the officer didnt offer to find her a ride. This is as far as I can determine the motive for what happened afterward. The driver, who works for KZJO radio and for KSL, then set about to degrade the West Valley Police Department. The next day KZJO radio spent a lot of air time downgrading the Police Department. A few days later, we received a letter from KSL with a copy of their upcoming editorial. A letter with the results of the internal affairs investigations by Chief Campbell was hand carried to KSL. We thought that would be the end of it. We were surprised that the next weekend the sensational editorial was put on the air in its original form, even though KSL had the correct facts. West Valley policies state that a car that has expired registration may be impounded, if the plates have been expired six months or more, but it is not required. Officer McSain followed policy, but I personally gave him an oral reprimand for doing it for the wrong reason. Even though KSL had the facts, they were left out of the editorial. Their editorial was worded in such a way as to make you very angry at the West Valley Police Department. My belief has always been to give the news media and the public the facts, not hide anything that can be made public. I believe each one of you is intelligent enough to form your own judgments and opinions and what your emotional level will be regarding this incident. You now know the whole story, so form your opinion about, the KSL editorial board, Don Gale, the driver, the officer, the Police Department. OFF CLOTHES Reg.
