Show 2R Mildred Bird Gerrard will celebrate her 80th birthday on Tuesday, July 5th, and will be honored by her children at an open house on Sunday, July 10th. Friends and relatives are being invited to call at the home of her daughter, Betty (Mrs. Warren) Tye, 982 W. 4800 South, between the hours of 7 and 9 p.m. Your presence will be gift enough, Mrs. Tye says. Mildred was born in 1903 in Manti, the first of six children of Charles W. and Alice Reid Bird. Her father, a dentist, traveled through the Manti area by horse and buggy fixing teeth until he opened a practice in Salt Lake. She attended Manti schools, then the Irving School in Salt Lake, and both Uintah and LDS high schools where she was of her senior class at the latter school. Mildred began her talent of piano playing at age five, a talent she was willing and often shared. She graduated from McCune School of Music and became well known throughout the community as she played for soloists and at receptions, weddings, funerals and church functions. She has accompanied road shows, community sings and Christmas programs. She has the ability to pick out any song requested, all the while visiting and smiling with friends. For more than 60 years, Mildred has taught piano and continues teaching not only music but giving love, counsel and friendship. She married Leonard Gerrard, a Taylorsville resident, in 1924. He was in a bishopric for nine years, a member of the Granite School Board, Taylorsville Water Organization and was employed at Larson Motor of Murray. A double-rin- g wedding ceremony was performed at Three Fountains East uniting Robin K. Gallagher and JeannaL. Wagers on June 9th. A rehearsal dinner was held at the Teogra and a reception was given at Three Fountains East. The bride is the daughter of Phillip G. Wagers and Linda J. Wagers. She graduated from Granger high and attended Utah Technical College. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Merle P. Gallagher and is a graduate of Granger high. He also attended the University of Utah. Tamara L. Gallagher was matron of honor with Rayleen Atwood and Peggy Lord as bridesmaids. Tammy Willomitzer was flower girl while Amy Lord attended the guest book. Best man duties were performed by Micheal P. Gallagher with Dan Hardy and John Wagers as ushers. Open House June 30, Gerrard Honored On Birthday Gallagher Jodie Thursday Open House Wagers Marries Huffman, WEST VALLEY VIEW - Robertsons Honored On Anniversary The children of Loyd J. and June Robertson will honor their parents with an open house on July 2nd, the occasion of their parents 50th wedding anniversary. Friends and relatives are being invited to call at 37 West 1700 South between the hours of 2 to 4 p.m. The honored pair were married on 1, 1933 in Cordell, Oklahoma, Mrs. Robertson is the former June July Pigg- Mr. Robertson served in the Navy Air Corp from 1944 to 1947 and in 1948 they moved to Salt Lake. Loyd worked at Midvale Smelter and then began mink ranching in I960. The four remaining children include Mrs. Tye; S. Richard, West Valley City; Duane B., Kaysville and Tom E. of Taylorsville. She has 16 grandchildren, 21 greatgrandchildren and helped raise 10 other children when their parents died. She also claims four other granddaughters whom her son took into his home after the death of their parents. Mildred has been active in Primary, MIA, Sunday school and Relief Society as well as DUP. She plays each year as the girls compete in the annual DUP Queen pageant. Other hobbies include handiwork, particularly tatting, which is a pioneer art she willingly shares with others. 80th Year traveling. They are the parents of five children. They are: Loyd D., Everett, Washington; Darlene Collier, Issaquah, Washington; Joyce Christensen, Duvall, Washington and Ray and Robert D. both of Kearns. Active in the LDS church all of her life, she served in various capacities in the Relief Society. For a time when her children were grown she worked outside her home in the Beehive Clothing Mills. currently attending University of Utah and filled an LDS mission to Manila, Philippines. Sherrie Warren was maid of honor with DeAnne Shaw and Stephanie Day as bridesmaids. Flower girls were LeeAnn and Heather Egbert while Cheryl Des-pai- n attended the guest book. Dave Lyman performed the duties of best man with Richard and Greg Shaw and Nathan Day as ushers. The newlyweds honeymooned in St. George and will make their home in Salt lake. Among her hobbies she enjoys quilting, crocheting and reading. The mother of four children, they include: Donna (Mrs. Richard) Amott of North Salt Lake; Lola (Mrs. Max) Sayer and Eldon Nye of Magna; and Laura (Mrs. Frank) Larsen of Vancouver, Washington.
