Judge bounced back with two runs in the bottom of the frame on a base hit by Frank Rice, but Alta countered with two insurance runs in the seventh to wrap it up. After giving up a solo run in the first, Judge took advantage of a good but unusual play to build a 1 lead. Judge scored one run when Paul Barbiero tripled and Rice singled, then loaded the sacks on a base hit by Rodman and a walk. That brought Skamnes to the plate and he drilled a shot to deep left. The Alta left fielder made a diving catch but, in doing so, hit his head on the new fence being installed at Muni. He knocked himself out. The Judge players had tagged and were rounding the bases as the Alta shortstop ran out to retrieve the ball and, later, to see if his teammate was all right. By the time he got the ball, Rice had scored from third, Rodman from second and Trentman from first. in the fourth Judge made it when Brad Knell scored from second on a single by Rudy Chong. But that g lead was wiped out by Altas , rally. Barbiero was 2x2 and Rice 2x3 to lead the Judge attack.
