But they wouldnt go away, she said, so you just get in and learn what your kids have learned. I found its a friendly thing, not something to be afraid of. Im excited now, she added. She is the wife of David R. Ballard. Mr. Wycherly, Mrs. Ballards father, recently retired from his position as media coordinator at Upland Terrace and Canyon Rim schools and is also attending the computer workshop. He admits that he, too, was afraid of computers at first, but is enjoying the class, is thrilled by what he is learning and can see different areas in which he can utilize the training in his business. Two computers were obtained by the school last summer, said Dr. Berry, and it was decided to begin a school-wid- e computer awareness program. The program began with the sixth graders, who were taught how to load, tape and general information about computers. Chris Ballard was one of 12 students selected to attend a computer class at Kennedy junior high last fall, in a program sponsored by the gifted and talented program of Granite district, she explained. The selected students were those who scored very high on the Stanford Achievement Test (SAT) last year, she added. The 12 students have helped teach others and, as others have learned, they in turn help with the program, explained Dr. Berry. Children in every grade are becoming involved in the computer classes. 10, 1983 Your Week Ahead Horoscope ing a family hands-o- Thursday, Feb.
