Salt Nasties and Nicies By LETITIA (TISH) BALDRIGE I enjoy receiving those letters in which people sound off about their Pet peeves. I also enjoy reading about the nifty things people do to make up for the jerks and the bad mannersin our world. A few of the latest in both categories —The Nasties: People standing in the automatic elevator who watch you frantically race toward them, and who continue to watch impassively as the door closes in your face. All someone had to do was press the ‘‘Open’’ button for a second or so. The “friend” who borrows your tapes or records and then loses one or two along the way in the confu- sion. The guest who puts down a drink on your beautifully polished tabletop, ignoring the paper napkins and coasters you have made available. The ingrate who borrows your car “in an emergency,’’ and who returns it with hardly any gasin the tank — or who returnsitfilthy inside and out. The person who uses your typewriter at the office, and then leaves it with the ribbon run out. The jerk who left chewing gum on your seat at the movie theater. The person who roughly knocks into you on the sidewalk, and ignores you completely, without even a mumble of apology. careless guest who drops cigarette ashesall over your house, even when there are ashtrays. The person who is constantly nibbling on your purchased ‘‘goodies,”’ but who never thinks to buy any candy and cookies to offer anyone else. The person nearby who suddenly ruins your good mood by letting forth an ugly obscenity over a minor incidence. Bad language is one of the strongest polluters of our environment. —The Nicelies: Your neighbor who knows you're pot feeling well and who says, “Forget about cooking tonight.
