Theproblem is,it’s not that way for a good sportscaster and Vin Scully is one of the best. Howdoyou get to be so good? Simple, work hard. Vin has a contract with CBS thatcalls for him to cover 16 football games a season and 12 golf tournaments. Some of those events are either in Los Angeles, where he lives with his wife and children, or in nearby places. Sc he doesn’t even haveto travel as much as it might seem on the surface. But his week, especially if it's preceding the coverage of a nationally telecast football game,is busy. He gets his assignments for three weeks. On Monday, he sits down and goes over his files for the teams he will be covering the next weekend. “I keep a file on every team in the NFL. On Monday when I know assignment,” he says, “I memorize what’s in the file. Then I begin my charts.
