Returning from a trip to California were Mr. and Mrs. Mike Gardner, Mr. and Mrs. John McCleary and families. They enjoyed the beach, Dis- i neyland and Knotts Berry Farm. ELDER CLONTZ Elder Shane Edmond Clontz, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward V. Clontz, 885 E. 350 S., Kaysville, has been called to serve in the Japan Kobe Mission. He will enter the MTC July 9. HE WILL speak at his farewell June 28 in the Kaysville South Stake Fifth Ward, 870 South Main at 2:20 p.m. Elder Clontz graduated ELDER SMITH Elder Don B. Dahl, son of Mr. and Mrs. Blair P. Dahl, of West Point, has been called to serve an LDS mission to the Mexico Torreon Mission. He will speak at his farewell June 28 at 10:45 p.m. in the chapel located at 3488 W. 300 N., West Point. Elder Scott Wendell Smith has been called to serve an LDS mission to the Italy Rome Mission. He will enter the MTC July 2 and will speak June 28 in the Kaysville Third Ward at 8:45 a.m., 555 N. 1st East. He is the son of Lt. Col. and Mrs. Wendell K. Smith who are stationed at Madrid, Spain. THE NEW elder graduated from high school in Columbus, Miss. He has been attending the U. of U. the past year on a full scholarship. He was active in band while in high school and was a member of the four bands at the U. of U. He has been active teaching Primary and has made his home with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Larsen of Kaysville, this past year, np from Davis High School and was active in sports. He has participated in the youth achievement program for two summers and was deacon quorum president, teacher second conselor and priest first counselor. Also active in MIA. member of the West Point called to the Philadelphia Penn. Mission. He was active in leader-- Mrs. Anna Rae Schmidt, a niece, at Santa Ana. They also visited with a brother, Mr. and Mrs. Zena Hyde at Lake San Marcos, Calif. Mrs. Carol Dunford is convalescing at home after undergoing surgery recently. Mrs. Gladys McPhee of Salt Lake City visited for ten days with her sister, Mr. and Mrs. Casper G. Carroll. Debbie and Dan Cogswell of Sandy were visitiors for two days with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Morris H. Johnson. Gregg I Hanson was the conductor of the Tabernacle Choir and U. of U. Symphony band at the graduation exercises for the U. of U. It was a Rites Held For Lena P. Collier Funeral services for Lena May Palmer Collier were held June 19 at the Layton East Stake Center. A member of the Kaysville 9th Ward, he has held various positions in the ward. He has attended Weber State this past year. His hobby is running in races. SHE WAS noted musician. Greg Giles of Little Rock, Ark. has been visiting for two weeks with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Owen Horne and his aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. David Home and family in Fruit Heights. Greg has left for Jackson Hole, Wyo. where he will be employed for the summer months. bom April 6, 1891 in Vernal the daughter of John and Mary Anderson Palmer. She married James Edwin Collier Oct. 8, 1908 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He died Feb. 4, 1961. She is survived by three sons and three daughters, Dan Collier, Layton; Palmer Collier, Sandy; Wendell Collier, Fruit Heights; Mary Snyder, and Mrs. Robert (Eva) Pendel-toboth of Salt Lake City; Mrs. Richard (Iva May) Johnson, Layton. Houseguests of Mr. and n, Mrs. Melvin Manning were Mr. and Mrs. Humberto Roche and three sons of San Juan, Puerto Rico. They came Rosalind Christensen; a medley of hymns played on the flute was by Dellene Collier Lowry, accompanied by David Walker; invocation by Richard Johnson. Remarks and eulogy by R. Kay Nelson; speaker, Pres. Robert J. Christensen; musical selection, As I Have Loved You, by the greatgrandchildren of Lena Collier. PALLBEARERS were Richard Collier, Kevin Collier, Jay Collier, Richard Snyder, William Rhinehart and Glen Johnson. Honorary pallbearers, Eric Johnson and Donald Collier. Care of the flowers by the Layton 22nd Ward Relief Society who also provided sack lunches for family members. to see the Salt Lake LDS Temple and enjoyed other scenic places in the Salt Lake City area. They were friends of Elder Robert Manning who is serving an LDS mission there, however, Robert is now in the Dominican Republic. Gregg I Hanson spent time in Colorado and Nevada during the month of May judging music festivals. BISHOPS COUNSELOR R. Kay Nelson of the Layton 22nd Ward officiated at the funeral. The family prayer was offered by Don Collier. Prelude and postlude music by Interment in the Vernal Cemetery with Clarence Palmer conducting the graveside service and dedicating the grave. Ralph Siddoway gave a few remarks there. Former Resident Dies In Arizona Former Layton resident, Agnes. N. Batchelor, 69, now of Mesa, Ariz., died June 15, 1981 in Lakeside, Ariz. Mrs. Batchelor was born Nov. 26, 191 in Salt Lake City a daughter of John and Mary Robina Norris. She married Walter DeLvnn Batchelor Feb. 28. 1936' in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. 1 AT THE time of her death she was a member of the Mesa 12th Ward. She resided in Layton for 29 years and moved to Mesa ten years ago. Surviving are her husband of Mesa; sons, David Batchelor, Mesa, Anz. ; Gary Batchelor, Overton, Nev.; Steven Batchelor, Tempe, Ariz.: 13 grandchildren Norris, Canoga Park, Calif.; sister, Grace Rushton, Tacoma, Wash. FUNERAL SERVICES were held June 18 in the Mesa 12th Ward. Interment in the Mesa City Cemetery. Mrs. Julianne Melbourn has accepted a mission call to serve in the England Mission. She is a member of the Kaysville Second Ward. Mrs. Paul Webster entertained at a family birthday dinner on Saturday in honor of her husbands birthday. Guests were Mr. and Mrs. Craig Webster and family, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Tilton, David and Debbie Webster, all of Mrs. Doraine Hales and her ship positions in his priesthood quorums. He was first assistant to the bishop while a Priest.
